The route, day by day
A seven-day route combining chimpanzees, savannah wildlife, the Kazinga Channel and mountain gorillas.
Day 1
Kibale area
Leave the city behind and travel west towards Kibale. The landscape gradually changes from busy roads and cultivated ground to the deeper greens around the forest. Settle in, meet the rhythm of the route and prepare for an early start.
Day 2
Kibale area
Walk beneath Kibale’s canopy with trained guides, following calls, movement and fresh signs through the forest. The chimpanzees set the pace. Leave time afterwards for the wider forest and community story around the park.
Day 3
Queen Elizabeth area
Travel south towards Queen Elizabeth National Park. The forest gives way to broader views and open country, making the transfer part of the story rather than a gap between activities. Where time allows, begin looking for the first signs of savannah wildlife.
Day 4
Queen Elizabeth area
Start with a game drive across Queen Elizabeth’s varied landscapes, then change perspective on the Kazinga Channel where the shoreline brings water, birds and wildlife into the same frame. The day works best when there is time to watch rather than hurry.
Day 5
Bwindi area
Travel through western Uganda towards the mountain forest. Hills begin to gather around the road, and the journey changes pace again. Use the day to settle into the practical briefing for the trek ahead.
Day 6
Bwindi area
Enter Bwindi with the trackers and guides, moving carefully through dense green forest in search of the gorilla group assigned for the day. The terrain can be demanding. The encounter is unhurried, respectful and shaped by the animals themselves.
Day 7
Uganda
Begin the return journey towards the agreed Kampala or Entebbe endpoint. The final day is a chance to let the route settle: forest calls, open plains, water and the quiet concentration of the trek now joined into one Uganda story.
